This article gave some very useful and interesting insight that I hadn't yet found out. The article says, "four major directors, including Steven Spielberg and Martin Brest, dropped the project" before the final director, Barry Levinston took over. The article says it was hard to find a director because people thought the characters would be unlikable since they aren't your typical "heores" but Levinston could see his vision of their relationship being beautiful.
I think that this article really helped me understand how the movie really came together so I can explain that in my paper. Also, I can use this article to explain how the main characters were first seen to be unlikable but the director Levinsto and the actors Cruise and Hoffman came together to create and extremely likable, real, genuine relationship between two extremely different people. I can use this article to support my idea that maybe the relationship between the two brothers could have been a major point that made the movie stand out.
